Before you call
- Say what kind of clock it is: grandfather, mantel, wall, cuckoo or other.
- Look for a maker's name or model number on the dial, a label or the movement.
- Explain the symptom: stops, won't chime, runs fast or slow, won't wind.
- For a grandfather clock, ask whether it makes house calls or only takes the movement.
- Ask how long repairs are taking at the moment and for an estimate in writing.
